About This Wine:

With each vintage we identify a few barrel lots that stand alone as an impressive example of a single varietal wine. In 2007, we found our Malbec to be of exceptional quality. Rich and concentrated with a wonderful range of blackberry, fig, plum and blueberry fruit. The finish is forceful and long with hints of mocha and spice. Delicious now, this wine's firm tannins and balance indicate it will age gracefully for 10 years or more.

Only 97 cases were made of this extraordinary wine.

Tasting Notes:

This limited bottling of 2007 Malbec demonstrates beautiful concentration of color and structure. Singled out for its exceptional quality, this wine is characterized by dark plum and ripe berries with earthy notes and a forceful finish.

Vineyard Notes:

Early cold and dry weather quickly gave way to warmer than normal temperatures into spring, resulting in earlier budding, bloom and set across all varieties. Initial fears of an early harvest changed when few summer days reached over 90 degrees, but a late season heat spike added a positive boost of sugar development.

Production Notes:

Aged for two years in French Oak barrels: 1/3 new, 1/3 once used, and 1/3 twice used. Aged for two more years in the bottle.

Food Pairing:

The earthy and spicy notes in Malbec lend themselves beautifully to pairing with many kinds of beef dishes, especially those with a spicy kick. Try it with your favorite ribs, beef stew, chili, Osso Buco, carne asada, or a cassoulet. Cheers!
