Vallelunga, Sicily - 1894
The Sodaro Family's storied wine lineage begins in the midst of the 19th century, among the lush landscapes and winding roads of Vallelunga, deep in the heart of Old World Italy. For many years, Don's grandfather Giuseppe Sodaro worked tirelessly to hone his craft of cooperage, making each wine barrel by hand and serving wineries throughout the region. In 1894, a terrible drought engulfed the area, drying the vineyards and leaving little to no fruit in need of barrels come harvest time. Faced with a significant challenge, Giuseppi, with a little encouragement from a friend in America, gathered his family of eight and headed for the port of Termini, destination Ellis Island.

Bringing together some of the most experienced and trusted minds in wine making and vineyard management, Sodaro Estate Winery was created from the ground up, starting with a premier terroir. Sitting among the hillsides and alluvial terraces in the heart of wine country, our boutique winery concentrates on limited production Cabernet blends from 100% Estate grown, hand-picked fruit.
